I can't define it, just remeber Bruce Lee saying it in enter the dragon when asked on the boat what fighting style he practices. Great confusing respone :D Think hes suggesting he is above engaging in combat for irrelevant macho reasons and knows the art of combat to such an extent that he can defeat his opponent without even needing to fight... something like that lol :?:

Yeah I think Bruce was refering to Sun Tzu's account of the samurai Bokuddens wisdom who re-stated that 'the ultimate skill in battle was the ability to win without actually having to fight'. Since several legendary martial artists such as Gengiz Khan also the karate legend Bushi Matsumura and others apparently had encounters in which they were able to defeat opponents without having to actual do battle. Funikoshi said the highest form of art is to subdue the enemy without fighting. I believe it is meant to be the highest level and aim of martial mastery. I guess the modern equivalent would be being able to walk away from a fight/trouble having the awareness skills to keep from encountering trouble, or having an aura/intimidation/confidence in ability that made your opponent think twice about the fight...?
