Proper Mawashi Geri Technique
Very good relaxed technique, the top Japanese instructors always seem to be able to perform very smooth relaxed mawashi geri's with great flexibility, I was recently at a seminar with Kancho Kanazawa who had superb kicking technique back in his day, he brought one of his sons with him to the seminar Nobuaki Kanazawa he too had awesome mawashi geri's (and every other technique) all his other sons and high grade instructors such as Murakami sensei seem to have flawless kicks, wonder what their secret is? Dedication I guess... I think many beginners make the mistake of raising their leg/knee up to the side but point the knee forwards rather than alining it upward and diagonal to get the body correctly aligned for jodan kicking. This video demonstrates the correct way to do it and shows how proper alignment/technique can enable you to perform the kick even at very close range, beginners should practise to get the correct form first at lower levels then once mastered increase flexability and perfom the kick higher and higher with time without lacking in the technique.
